Beyond grateful! It was the most fulfilling feeling being able to watch the sunset tonight. I got let out of the hospital today and have just been so freaked out on how much of a miracle this has been! There's been so much love and support for me and I haven't been able to get back to everyone but I see it and love everyone of you that's been praying and pulling for me THANKYOU. @andre_botha_662 you're a brother man thank you so much for giving me another shot at life. @northshorelifeguardassociation the little I do remember I think they were my first words yelling "get this sh*t off me" 😂 thank you guy so much. @mfanno @kalooneytunes @dannyfuller @oliverkurtz @tothfroth pics I've see you guys where right by my side and others thank you all! My love @maddiedecamillis you be always been my angle you're the best my little nurse never left my side. @eric_geiselman I can't imagine you kept it together like you did love you man! @breekleintop you've been so supportive too. Me han dejado salir del hospital hoy y todavía estoy flipando de lo milagroso que ha sido todo esto! He recibido mucho amor y apoyo y no he sido capaz de agradecérselo a todo el mundo que ha estado rezando y ayudándome.

@northshorelifeguardassociation lo poco que recuerdo creo que eran mis primeras palabras gritando «quitarme esta mierda de encima» ? @mfanno @kalooneytunes @dannyfuller @oliverkurtz @tothfroth en las fotos se os ve ayudando, gracias a todos!

Pero una mala racha se ha apoderado de la North Shore, y concretamente del equipo Reef. Esta vez ha sido Mikala Jones quien esta vez ha tenido que pasar por el hospital para recibir 21 puntos en su car tras un tremendo golpe en Off the Wall.

«En comparación con Evan esto ha sido mucho menos», decía el hawaiano. «Parecía una buena doblada y empecé a remar, me puse de pie y comenzó a succionar. No sé muy bien lo que pasó, hubo una gran implosión y creo que mi cara dio con las quillas. Lo que es seguro es que no me di contra el reef. Todo sucedió muy rápido.»

“Hay un ambiente raro en el agua desde que ocurrió lo de Evan” dijo Mikala. «Todo el mundo se preocupa de los demás, y si alguien tiene se cae, todos estamos pendientes de que salga a la superficie sano y salvo.»

Además, el tamañero Mark Mathews, aunque se rompió el hombro durante el Peahi Challenge, podía haber sido mucho peor. Se dice que su ola puede ser la más grande cogida jamás .
